My Story
The Christmas Story is one of refugees fleeing for security. Matthew 2:13 When the Magi had gone, an angel of the LORD appeared to Joseph in a dream. "Get up," he said, "take the child and his mother and escape to Egypt. Stay there until I tell you, for Herod is going to search for the child to kill him."
There are hundreds of refugees of all ages living in and around Calais. They are sleeping rough in the worst conditions and are not allowed to even have tents for shelter from the elements.Their sleeping bags and possessions are regularly confiscated by the police as the authorities are determined to prevent a permanent camp from reforming. Care4Calais supports them. If any of us had the misfortune to be born in a different time and place we could be one of them.
